State of Montana Arboretum Tour - Trees through Time

  • The Root - University of Montana Campus 32 Campus Dr. Missoula, MT 59802 (map)

Trees have changed dramatically from ancient times; fossils and physiology tell us a lot about this struggle. Join tour leader Martin Skinner to see current Arboretum trees that are close descendants of primordial trees of North America.

Learn about the different ecological advantages or disadvantages of the adaptations by trees and how those might play into Western Montana's changing ecology.

The tour will begin at 11:00 a.m. in “the Root” just north of Main Hall and west of the University Center, on the northeast side of the Oval. The closest parking is to the east, either to the North or South of the University Center.

We will be practicing appropriate COVID-19 social distancing. But we do respectfully ask that ALL attendees wear a mask and that no dogs attend - thank you for your understanding.

If you have ANY questions in advance of the Tour please contact us via Facebook Messenger. For more information about your State of Montana Arboretum, please go to http://www.umt.edu/arboretum/.
